Artwork statement below:
"Castle Mountain is the most iconic sandstone outcrop within the Cania Gorge National Park. This towering mountain, with its regal stature, commands the scene, its sheer walls seemingly adorned with the sky itself. Below the foothills of the mountain lies the man-made Cania Dam. Its’ dark, tranquil waters serve as a reflective canvas for the stark, ghostly white skeletons of dead timber that rise from its depths. These skeletal forms are a reminder of a past history – the abandoned gold mining town of Cania - buried deep below the surface of the dam. This artwork invites viewers to ponder the delicate balance between life and decay - history and human development. It is also a tribute to the enduring spirit of nature and the beauty that lies within its quiet waters."
