White Tree (Still Standing) | Fine Art Reproduction
While exploring the foothills of Cania Gorge, I turned around and was greeted by this amazing tree stretching up towards the sky. Lifting it’s bald branches to the landscape and the gorgeously streaked sky behind. I was in awe at the scene before me and knew I had to capture it. This view actually looks up towards Bartletts Lookout. For those not familiar, Clark Bartlett was a bit of a hermit, who built a dirt floor shack for his family just over the road from this tree and became the man responsible for carving out many of the bushwalks we all tread down today. In effect Clark brought tourism to the Gorge and the community of Monto. He had many hangout’s, but the position of these cliffs, high above his timber hut, earned them the title of Bartletts lookout.
In this artwork I hoped to capture the intensity of my experience. I wanted these paired back, almost nuetral colours, drenched in the midday sun, with this tree speaking louder than everything else. That tree was the final addition to this work and just tied everything together – foreground –midground, and background.
